Recharging your energy with small getaways

Recharging your energy with small getaways

A small observation about how small getaways can help with recharging your energy. It’s true we always looking for that perfect 2 weeks or more vacation time per year. But I discovered for myself that small trips from 2-4 nights can completely change your state of mind. The idea of those trips is to have as often as you can afford it, and, it’s not only financially but also if your schedule allows it. When it comes to long period travels they require planning and preparation while short travels help to focus on the trip more.

It’s okay to take off from work

My personal schedule is very intense as a freelancer. Sometimes I sacrifice my getaway by taking more work. Recently I realized that it’s very important to have small breaks. It can be anything going hiking, visiting friends, renting a different place for several nights. Just away from your house. This past year it was a blessing to have an opportunity to just take off and go for several days away from the city.

Travel with the loved ones

I try to take my cat any time I travel. I usually go to my friend’s beach house. The house is very simple but that’s the beauty of it. It’s simple but has everything that you need. This house has seen at least 2 generations. I usually visit my friends or I travel with my close friends. I also don’t mind traveling by myself, I feel it’s necessary sometimes to reconnect with yourself.

A day off or more at home can also recharge your energy

Usually, when I have a day off I usually enjoy doing simple things.  Sounds weird but that’s necessary because in doing simple things you actually do a lot for your body, mind, and soul. I had to have time to accept this idea of doing simple things on my day off. Cooking nutritious meals, walking, sleeping more, resting, reading, doing what you like to do, listening to music, writing, meditating, stretching, watching the sunset, sunrise, burning woods, listening to the birds in the backyard, sipping on a cup of tea, spending time with the loved ones, having a bath, getting a massage and etc. Simple things, which are not simple in daily city life. I think because our mind is always thinking in advance what to do and what to execute next. We don’t stay in the present moment that allows us to enjoy it. Especially living in a megapolis where the tempo is so fast. Enjoy your moments more by slowing down.

Minimal approach

I also think from the perspective of the minimalist. Can our daily routines be more fulfilling? Do we need a lot of things in one day? Does this mean approaching daily life routines with quality but not quantity?

To conclude

From my personal experience, I go to places where there is more nature, forest, ocean, mountains, rivers and etc. I can’t even explain how much I get recharged by nature. When I don’t travel I try my best to do simple things at home so I stay present and restful. One of them is cleaning the house and then cooking yummy food. Taking care of my cats. Burning incense. Drinking tea. Writing. Its simple but I feel more restful in my body since i don’t feel in a rush to catch a train or being on time to work. This time is for myself at home or when I travel.
